Whether you’re an incoming freshman or transfer student, you’re undoubtedly excited about your first semester at Lubbock Christian University.

If you’re like most first-year students, you’re also nervous, too. It’s only natural to feel that way, and the good news is that LCU has a support “team” that will ease your transition while providing all the resources you need. You want to stay healthy, get a great education, and create an amazing community at LCU – and it’s all possible!

Let’s take a closer look at 10 important resources available to you across campus at LCU.

1. Career Services

The Career Services office will serve you throughout your time at LCU. Its goal is to prepare and equip students and alumni with the tools that will make their career goals a reality. With the help of Career Services, you’ll find the tools you’ll need to face the job market and advance your career. Some of those many tools include:

  • Career fairs
  • Mock interviews
  • Resumé writing

2. Counseling Center

Life can sometimes get difficult – attending college and striving to make a better future for yourself is no exception. LCU’s Counseling Center provides professional, confidential services for a variety of concerns – whether they’re personal, academic, or relational. Our counselors can help with issues related to stress and anxiety, grief, relationships and breakups, depression, homesickness, and more. LCU students are eligible to receive their initial counseling session at no cost.

3. Writing Center

Writing term papers and essays are part of college life and, for many students, they present daunting challenges. But LCU’s University Writing Center offers free writing help for any LCU undergraduate or graduate student. An individualized Writing Center session might include:

  • Research, drafting, and revising
  • Improving grammar, punctuation, and usage
  • Deciding on a topic
  • Citing sources properly

4.  LCU Global Campus

From short-term to semester-long, we have amazing ways for students to experience the global classroom. Students have the opportunity to study in a number of countries through Global Campus, complete classes that benefit their degree plan, all while creating an enjoyable balance of sightseeing and leisure time.

5. Summer Camps

LCU offers a wide variety of summer camps that students can help facilitate and take part in, including:

ENCOUNTER

LCU’s ENCOUNTER Camp is designed to encourage and support teenagers as they explore their faith in God. It’s open to 9th graders through high school graduates.

Camp Champion

Camp Champion recognizes the importance of the spiritual growth of today’s youth while nurturing their growing faith and the struggles unique to this age. It’s open to 6th through 8th-grade students.

Pine Springs Camp

Nestled in the mountains of New Mexico, Pine Springs is for youth who want to share the good news of Jesus. Counselors are chosen each year from the LCU student body.

Other camps

LCU offers a variety of other camps, as well, including sports camps, the National Hispanic English Youth Conference, Summer Excitement, and Encounter LE (Limited Edition).

6. Clubs & Organizations

There are so many ways for LCU students to get involved, whether it’s the Student Senate, social clubs, intramural sports, and much, much more. Learn how you can get involved doing what you’re passionate about.

7. Chaplink

Chaplink is your one-stop source for all LCU announcements, information, and updates. You’ll want to stay “in the know” with campus activities by visiting this site regularly!

8. Financial Assistance

The LCU Financial Department is ready to serve you, whether it concerns scholarships and grants, employment, or loans. Applying for financial assistance is the first step of the process.

9. Paisano & Center for Student Success

Created in 2013, Paisano is an outreach program to the Latino community and first-generation college students. It offers Mini-College Days to students of area schools and provides a glimpse of college life.

The Center for Student Success provides a variety of resources and services for LCU students, including tutoring, testing, disability services, student mentoring, and Shepherd – which is designed to connect students with campus resources.

10. Rec Life

You name it and LCU’s student rec program probably has it. From intramurals to group fitness, to a state-of-the-art fitness center, there is a variety of programs designed to promote physical fitness, education, and personal values. And it’s all centered in the Rhodes-Perrin Recreation Center.
